Gentrified!   Gentrified!
It's the classic process of gentrification: artists and other "creative types" move in to a run-down part of town, chasing the cheap rents, and put the area back on the cultural radar. Some time later, the big money moves in to the up-and-coming district, displacing those very artists. 7 years ago we moved our office to Berlin's Torstrasse, taking over a disused perfume shop. Since then, the street has seen the junk shops and tattoo parlours ebb away, and the galleries and fashion shops multiply. And at the beginning of this year the first chain store arrived: Subway. So we can all enjoy a foot long BBQ chicken sub if we so wish. At the same time, at the other end of the street exclusive members-only club SoHo House opened with its infinity pool... Now we are being evicted as our landlord is doing up the building and quadrupling the rent. Gob Squad HQ has to move by the end of the year. If you know of anywhere in central Berlin that might be suitable (preferbably a shop or ground floor space), please do get in touch.

The night of the burning blouse   The night of the burning blouse
Cologne, 30 June. It was the Schauspiel Köln premiere of Revolution Now last night. The huge 800 seater auditorium was almost full which must be an audience record for Gob Squad. The piece was met with warm applause and one or two boos. Perhaps the most exciting part of the evening was when a passer-by's blouse caught fire, despite stringent safety precautions, during the Molotov cocktail throwing scene. Further performances 1st and 3rd July

Revolution Now poster attacked by revolutionaries?   Revolution Now poster attacked by revolutionaries?
Berlin, 31 May. In a somewhat ironic turn of events (an irony slightly deadened a 1000€ glaziers bill) the Revolution Now poster in the window of our Berlin office has itself been the target of an attack. When we came to work this morning, we found the glass smashed right on the face of Sean Patten, adopting the pose of Liberty from Delacroix's famous painting. Was it the work of fans of the performance? Or perhaps its detractors? Or maybe someone who'd had a bit much to drink at the weekend. The perpertrator is invited to come forward with their story...
